"Updated: I'm on my 7th month training under Quinn and I'm still loving it! Getting stronger and making gains. Training with a coach and having your programming set by a coach with a Master's in exercise physiology has been extremely beneficial. This program isn't for people who want to half-ass it. But who wants a half-assed life or a half-assed body? I'm on my second month of being a client of SS Miami, and wish I had joined sooner. My coach is Quinn, he's been fantastic at helping to correct my form and with my programming. I self-coached myself prior, following the principals from the book, “Starting Strength” book by Mark Rippetoe. The whole point of the Starting Strength program is how to most efficiently and effectively build strength and muscle. Who wants to waste their time at the gym? This program works, full stop. Seems quite simple, based on the compound lifts of squats, bench press, press and deadlifts. However there's lots more nuance and that's where coaching comes in. Quinn writes my workouts as well as reviews my workouts to guide me in proper form. Proper form is to ensure safe and efficient strength development, back to the simple concept of the SS program. He's great at explaining to me how to dial in an issue, of which I have many! And he's doing the bulk of coaching online through video of my workouts, with monthly in-person drop ins as I live 4 hours away. Lots of feedback and checking in, I feel extremely supported. The gym is super clean, modern and spacious. Class size is limited, so every client gets lots of attention. If you're serious about building muscle, getting stronger which enables you to live a better life, Starting Strength is it. I've transformed myself in the last 2 years following this program. Now with the proper guidance from Quinn's coaching, I'm excited to see what muscle gains this middle-aged lady can get. And it doesn't suck that I'm rocking a bikini again at 50!"
