"A lot of places say “come as you are,” but what they really mean is conditionally come as you are, as long as you fit into their version of acceptable. I was afraid of that when I started. My life is busy and structured by other people’s needs all day. One of the few things I get to choose for myself is how I move my body and who I work with while doing it. I wanted full autonomy over my training experience, no pressure, no judgment, no personality policing. This gym actually honors that. I don’t have to perform, explain myself, or pretend to be in a certain mood. I get to show up exactly as I am, focus on my goals, and leave feeling stronger instead of smaller. They even sent personalized Christmas cards, physical cards in the mail, that almost had me in tears. Their emails feel human; shockingly, I actually read them. Not boring, corporate fluff. Kate is my rockstar trainer. Russell is great. And August is quiet and reserved, and it’s always good to see him there. P.S. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet Onyx."
